Looking after your home

Damp and mould
As we head into winter, it is important to try and prevent damp and mould during the colder weather. Here are some handy tips to help you look after your property.

Fire safety
For your safety, please regularly test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to check they are in full working order. From time to time, you may need to replace the batteries and this remains your responsibility throughout the tenancy. If you have any concerns, please contact your landlord or property manager.

Unwelcome guests
There has been an increase of bed bugs across Europe, so with this in mind, we recommend you take extra precautions. Regularly vacuum carpets, declutter rooms, use mattress protectors and wash bedding at a high temperature (60c). These simple actions can lower the risk of infestations in your home.

If there are any signs of bed bugs in your property you should contact your landlord or property manager immediately.

Forward thinking

Our local experts have been experiencing the busiest lettings market to date with demand to live in London and the surrounding areas at a record high, with no sign of slowing down. Over 70 per cent of tenants choose to renew their tenancies with us so if you love where you live and want to extend your stay beyond your contract end date, please let us know. On average, our landlords let out their properties for over eight years, so long-term tenancies and extensions to your current agreement are generally welcomed.

If you would like any advice on taking care of your home or extending your stay in the property, please call your local office where our team will be happy to help you.

Here to help

Please be advised that our Property Management offices are closed over the festive period from 5pm on Friday 22nd December, and will reopen on Tuesday 2nd January at 8.30am. However, if we manage your property, our local property management teams will be available to help you with urgent maintenance issues between 9.30am - 4.30pm on 27th, 28th and 29th December.

If you are reporting an urgent issue outside of these hours, such as loss of heating or hot water, flooding, fire or break-in, please contact our emergency out of hours team on 020 8742 4122.
