What is great about living in your area?

Bloomsbury and Fitzrovia are such established areas, full of beautiful buildings and interesting things to see but they are also so vibrant, with loads going on. Both are within walking distance of the West End, Soho and the City and also have excellent transport connections. King’s Cross has become one of the most exciting places to live in London, as well as being the gateway to Europe on the Eurostar.

What is coming up that will make it even more attractive?

The continuing development around King’s Cross means it will keep getting better and better. As well as new shops and restaurants opening seemingly by the day it now has a cinema, theatre, museums, galleries and a leisure centre.

Tell us about one of your favourite hidden gems.

The Foundling Museum in Brunswick Square tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, Britain’s first home for abandoned children, and the children who grew up there. The hospital was the UK’s first children’s charity as well as being its first public art gallery.

Filed under: Latest News — Tags: , — Frank Harris @ 8:16 am

Writes Alec Papasavva, Associate Director at Central London estate agents Frank Harris and Company:

“The area around King’s Cross has seen a huge amount of change over the past few years. It has been transformed from what was a run-down area into something really exciting. Spearheading this transition has been the transformation of St. Pancras station for the arrival of Eurostar and the launch of King’s Cross Central – a 67 acre development.

“This will consist of 8 million sq ft of mixed use space including offices, shops, homes and even a university. And in recognition of this scheme, a new ‘N1C’ postcode has been created specifically for the development. Click here to find out more.”

If you are interested in learning more about this exciting development or you are maybe thinking about buying or renting in the area, do give Alec a call on 020 7387 0077.

Bloomsbury flat in need of some modernisation!

No doubt the word ‘Bloomsbury’ conjures up images of the original Bloomsbury Set, The British Museum, University of London, lovely Georgian Squares and other renowned local institutions. Over the years, the area has attracted the likes of writers, actors, artists with a further array of individuals recognized in their specialist field of work in the form of a blue plaque.

You could be excused for visualising the above people occupying sumptuous, elegant, grand and stylish accommodation with all mod cons (for its time) in one of the areas Georgian streets or in a large Victorian/Edwardian flat within one of the mansion blocks scattered around WC1.

However, this is not always the case. One particular flat we were recently marketing in one of the many tenement style blocks, offered the individual the chance to put on their creative hat to produce a small one bedroom or studio flat. The flat can be described as unmodernised, to say the least, with the latest high spec instalment being a basic shower cubicle squeezed into the corner of the bedroom.

Bloomsbury flat needing a little TLC!

Saying this, the flat is set within one of the areas more popular buildings and if you are feeling the stresses of London life getting to you, can always pop up the road to catch the Eurostar!
