SHOEMAKERS SE1

ALL NOW SOLD

In recent years, many developers have boldly claimed warehouse status for their new developments, when in reality their creations were little more than a warehouse concept. 37-39 Great Guildford Street was built and occupied in the 1880’s by a firm of engineers on the site of a former shoemaker’s factory, affording the site an illustrious history for this popular style of building.  Throughout the late nineteenth and twentieth century, the building continued to be used for commercial purposes under the ownership of hardware merchants Burnett Compton & Co. It was used latterly as both a warehouse and stationery store, before being sold to an India rubber merchant. Today, Artesian have created the next chapter of the building’s history, by creating an exclusive collection of just four, high specification lateral apartments.

Each apartment was finished to Artesian’s exacting standards, whilst drawing on the building’s unique attributes to create four very rare properties - that is, genuine warehouse apartments. The two-bedroom apartments on the first, second and third floors each offered around 1,250 sq ft (116 sq m) of open plan living space and featured original architectural details such as exposed beams, steel columns, high ceilings and extensive double-hung warehouse-style windows.

Shoemakers is located in London’s fashionable Southbank area, making it an ideal base to enjoy all that Central London has to offer.
